The Richard Gangel Fine art Director award was established in 2005 to laurels art directors currently working in the field who have supported and advanced the art of illustration. Information technology is our honor and privilege to name IRENE GALLO equally the 2016 recipient of this prestigious award.

Irene Gallo is the Associate Publisher at Tor.com and the Artistic Director at Tor Books.  She has art directed countless illustrators and her piece of work has received numerous awards, including this yr'southward Gold Medal winning image by Sam Weber for The Language of Knives.

Congratulations to the 2016 Hamilton Male monarch Honour winner Joe Ciardiello! The Hamilton Male monarch honor recognizes the best illustration of the year by a member of the Society, and is voted on past past recipients. The award also honors a member for their substantial and distinguished career.

Joe is winning the laurels for his pen and ink series titled "On the Snap", which features portraits of writers and musicians for a book of interviews past Brian Case. We will be celebrating this award at the Book and Editorial Reception on February 5th. Congratulations Joe!

Guild of Illustrators has collaborated with Scout Books on a pair of custom notebooks!

We worked with two of our Illustrator-S Members, who have work upward right at present in our New Visions show.

Ping Zhu, based in Brookyln, NY, has received many awards for her work, including ADC's Young Guns accolade.  Her clients include the New Yorker, Nobrow, and American Express, among others.  Her paintings were featured in an issue of Youth in Decline'southward popular Borderland series.

Sandra Jávera lives in New York and is originally from São Paulo, Brazil.  Her meticulous and delicate drawings take been in many magazines, newspapers, and books.  She also has an interest in ceramics.

The Society of Illustrators is pleased to share a recording from this weekend's of import panel "Stories Thing: Illustrators Discuss the Cultural Significance of the Popular Paradigm", featuring Wesley Allsbrook, Alexandra Beguez, Jensine Eckwall, Chris Kindred, Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, Richie Pope, Shadra Strickland, and moderated by Jonathan Bartlett.

The panel was organized in conjunction with the current New Visions exhibit, which includes artwork past Society of Illustrators members of diverse and unique talent under the age of 32 who have chosen to support our mission early in their careers.  The organizers of the event, Jonathan Bartlett and Jensine Eckwall, are both Illustrator-S members and wanted to create an result for their colleagues and beau professionals to talk over electric current bug and topics in an open format.

We hope this will be the first of many conversations regarding diversity and culture in the illustration industry.
